Gluten Free Masala Biscuits

If you are a fan of sweet and salty biscuits then this is the perfect recipe for you!

These biscuits taste like the masala biscuits one used to find in the bakeries of yore, the yellow biscuits stacked one on top of each other in huge mason jars. For me it takes me back me to the sight of small bakeries in the smaller towns of India, like a trip down memory lane.

This recipe is simple, needs only 3 ingredients and can even be baked in a microwave oven with a convection setting.

Recipe

Servings – 12-13 biscuits

Bake – 15-20 mins

Equipment required – Baking tray

Ingredients

  1. Wheafree Missi Roti Flour – 150 gm
  2. Butter – softened – 90 gm
  3. Sugar – 30 gm

Method :

  • Pre-heat oven at 180 degree Celsius
  • Grease a baking tray or place parchment paper on baking tray
  • In a bowl place softened butter and sugar. Cream the butter and sugar ( mix it) either with hand held beater or with a spatula. Then slowly add in the flour and knead into a dough.
  • Once the dough comes together let it rest for 10-15 minutes
  • Then roll out lime sized balls and roll it out into desired shapes
  • Bake at 180 degree Celsius for 15-20 minutes or when the biscuits turn golden.
  • Once baked let it cool on a rack for 10 minutes before serving it.
  • It can be stored in an airtight container .

These biscuits go perfectly with a delicious cup of tea.

If you do not have Missi Roti flour, just use any commercially available gluten free flour and add a pinch of turmeric and spices to make the flour.

If you do not want any sugar you can skip it and then your biscuits will be just savoury biscuits.
